Cook’s Voyages

Dr Christene Cheater

This year marks the 250th anniversary of Lieutenant James Cook’s mapping of the east coast of Australia. His navigational skills and three voyages around the Pacific and Antarctic Oceans have since become the stuff of legends and commemorative landing sites can be found in Alaska, Australia, Canada, Hawaii, New Caledonia, NZ, Tahiti, Tonga, Vanuatu, Easter Island, and Norfolk Island. This course looks at Cook, his voyages, the history underpinning these voyages and the controversies that now surround them.
